Attorney Referrals

Attorney referrals of criminal matters have become a substantial and important component of our overall criminal practice. Indeed, referrals from other attorneys, both locally, and from around the nation now comprise the fastest growing percentage of new criminal cases taken on by our criminal defense team. We attribute our success in gaining these referrals to two basic facts.

First is the superior reputation we have built within the criminal legal community. Our team has well over 100 years of combined criminal experience and includes 4 former state and federal prosecutors, 2 former felony public defenders and a retired trial and appellate judge. Three of these attorneys are also highly respected law professors teaching subjects such as Electronic Surveillance and Wiretap law and Evidence at the University of Maryland, University of Baltimore and Catholic University Law Schools. One of our members is even a top advisor to a highly acclaimed television crime/legal drama.

We make in excess of one thousand appearances in state and federal court annually in cases ranging from relatively minor misdemeanors, to violent felonies and complicated white collar crimes. We have developed close personal and professional relationships with the majority of the judges, prosecutors and key court personnel and are able to utilize these contacts to our client’s advantage. In short we have put together what is in Maryland almost universally recognized as the most formidable criminal defense team in the State. We encourage a review of the profiles of these impressive and talented attorneys both on this site and our flagship site, mdattorney.com.

The second factor to which we attribute our success in acquiring attorney referrals is our willingness to work cooperatively with referring counsel. We make it clear from our initial contact that we are willing to work with the referring attorney as much or as little as they wish and to share compensation accordingly. Some attorneys, particularly those who are referring long standing and important clients, want to be intimately involved in all aspects of the case, other simply want periodic updates. We leave it up to the referring attorney to decide the level of involvement he or she wishes to have.

We recognize the fact that when an attorney refers a client to us, how we handle the case and treat the client will reflect greatly upon the referring attorney. We make it our top priority to not only handle these cases aggressively and effectively, as we do with all of our cases, but to make sure that the client is aware of the significant contributions of the referring attorney to the ultimate outcome of the case. It is our goal and priority to safeguard and protect the relationship that our referring attorneys have, in many instances, spent years building with the client to whom they are entrusting us.
